Andy Bennett 


Andy Bennett is a singer songwriter born in Leamington spa, United Kingdom, best known for his work with ocean colour scene. 

Bennett performed and recorded with ocean colour scene as 2nd guitarist, bass player and occasional drummer from April 2004-feb 2015. 

He is truly a versatile artist who has worked/performed with the likes of Andy Fairweather-low, Paul Weller, PP Arnold, Bev Bevan, Roy wood, Liam Gallagher, Dodgy, Toploader, Brian McFadden at venues such as NEC arena, Wembley arena, Glasgow SECC hydro and Royal albert hall.


The Elements-

Bennett has his first break with his band The Elements (formerly known as Sargent). The elements regularly gigged around UK and supported Ocean colour scene in their biggest 1998 Arena tour, where Bennett performed as a second guitarist for OCS at the same tour.

The Elements were signed with Acid Jazz record label and their single “caught in the storm “charted as no 7 in the indie charts.


Ocean Colour Scene

Bennett joined Ocean Colour Scene on 8 April 2004 (when he participated in the Royal Albert Hall concert). He has featured on the following albums:

Bennett co-wrote the song "Old Pair of Jeans" which was on the Saturday album. According to The Digital Fix, "It just gets better with every song a winner. The jaunty ‘Old Pair of Jeans’ is rollicking fun: "I wish you didn't get hung up so easily / When you're bound fall apart you always fall apart at the seams / So worn and so torn. Like an old pair of jeans." The song also featured on the 21 album. 

Bennett has toured with Ocean Colour Scene since 2004 but left in February 2015 to focus on his solo material.

 

Solo Career

In 2015 Bennett released his first solo single “Hole in the road” which got good supports from local as well as national radio station like BBC 6 music. His first single was followed by the next single “Drift away” which got national plays on BBC radio 2 and BBC 6 music.

In November 2016, Bennett released his first album, thinkin', drinkin', singin' , featuring a back catalogue of songs which he has been working on over time (including the songs previously released as singles and also a new version of the song "Old Pair of Jeans"). His album was met with positive response, gathering four stars out of five review from Planet Mosh, as well as 5 stars rating from Flick of the Finger. The publication cited the track 'Fool No More' as 'the quintessential track on an album that is full of gems.

Bennett recently release new single “Do it all for love” which got national radio plays. He is working on his upcoming album which is set to release end of this year/beginning next year.
